How to do Manual Installation Using Microsoft Web Platform Installer

The Web Platform Installer (WPI) hides all the mundane setup.exe from the user.  It is meant to simplify the “difficult” installation process for the user.  However, sometimes, you might want to take control and install software yourself.

This article shows you how to obtain the SETUP files that are downloaded by WPI and by doing so allows you to install the downloaded software yourself.

Launch WPI and select the software that you want to download.  Start the download process.  When WPI reaches 100% completed, it stores all the necessary setup files for the downloaded software at this location:

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft
   \Web Platform Installer\installers

Simply replace the {username} with your own system user name.

This is where you can find the SETUP files so that you can manually install the software yourself.
